Some nice graphics from my childhood

These are Kanji cards; cards that are used to teach children Japanese words in Kanji (Chinese/Japanese characters). It works like this- the word ‘Apple’ will be printed on the front of the  card and the child will have to guess what it says, and then to see if they got it right, the card is flipped around and a picture of an apple is revealed.

The pictures are awesome! They look like photographs but on closer inspection you can see thye’re actually hand painted images (although printed of course). I used to spend hours just looking at the pictures.

Although I don’t use them anymore, my mother now uses them to teach her students Japanese. Nice re-use isn’t it.

Printed 1985.
